We believe that our community is our greatest strength. As part of our commitment to continuous growth, we are iteratively working out systems to collect feedback from our employees and be better.

In May this year, we conducted our 2024 internal staff survey providing a window into the heart of WorkNomads. It offers valuable insights into what drives our team and how we can continue to evolve. Next to collecting their feedback, we openly discuss it with our employees, sharing all opinions, ideas, and our efforts to be better, while also addressing setbacks.

Transparency is a core value at WorkNomads, and we’re excited to take it a step further by publishing these findings as part of our commitment to improvement. Our community of WorkNomads is the heart of who we are. Here’s what we’ve learned from the people who power our journey.

In December, we carried out our first internal survey, reaching out to our employees about their experience in the company and suggestions. One of the key takeaways was the need for a better onboarding process. Read the following insight to see how we addressed it

Engagement and events: building our community

The Staff Survey emphasized the importance of unity within WorkNomads, regardless of where or how our employees work. Our team represents 24 nationalities, and remote work continues to expand across 15+ countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. While a large portion of our workforce operates in remote or hybrid settings, the survey results show that there is a shared need for more connections across our staff, be it from the same or different disciplines, departments, and time zones.

The heart of WorkNomads lies in the engagement and connections we build every day.

Our employees highly value the diverse gatherings and virtual events we offer, from the WorkNomads Crew WhatsApp group to on-site activities like yoga classes and gym access, Walk the Talk in the park initiative. An impressive 72.7% of employees have actively participated in our events, rating their overall satisfaction a 5.0, highlighting how much our team appreciates these opportunities for connection.

It’s not about choosing between flexibility and connection – it’s about ensuring that our remote teams and on-site staff all feel equally involved in our mission. This not only echoed the core values of unity and collaboration but also reinforced the fact that WorkNomads is a truly global community.  While event participation has been positive, we’re taking feedback to heart, planning to make future events even more accessible and engaging for everyone, no matter their location.

How we addressed it:

Our 2024 Olympic Games brought remote employees from around the world to Bulgaria for a tremendous team-building event. Why Bulgaria? It’s the home base of WorkNomads, where our and the Olympic core principles meet – excellence, collaboration, and unity across diversity. Just as the games unite athletes from all over the world to achieve greatness together, our team-building events aim to bridge cultures, time zones, and disciplines, creating strong bonds while celebrating our collective strength.

These events are crucial opportunities to build relationships and strengthen the bonds within the WorkNomads Universe – we are a community built on collaboration, trust, and inclusivity, no matter where in the world we are. We create an environment where employees can grow both professionally and personally.

The power of flexibility

Freedom and flexibility are among the greatest reasons people are drawn to WorkNomads. With over 40% of employees working fully remotely, and many choosing a hybrid model, it’s no surprise that flexibility is a key attraction. As a company rooted in the digital nomad culture, we offer a way of working that embraces mobility, freedom, and autonomy. Our employees thrive when given the freedom to balance their work and life on their own terms.

Our team is diverse, with employees spanning over multiple countries and time zones. Many have expressed that this flexibility, combined with opportunities for professional growth and challenging projects, is why they continue to stay. It’s clear that WorkNomads is more than a workplace—it’s a lifestyle choice that empowers people to be their best, no matter where they are.

Professional growth and internal collaboration

While freedom is a significant draw, professional development is a top priority for our team. As a consultancy company with a large breadth of disciplines and projects, it’s natural to see interest in diverse opportunities. Two-thirds of us expressed interest in different project possibilities, roles or collaborating with colleagues across departments, viewing this as a chance to learn and grow. However, only a quarter of our employees already have regular contact with colleagues from other teams and projects, while the majority would like to connect and gain a better understanding of the work being done on various projects.

How we addressed it:

Initiatives like the WN Olympics or Walk the Talk blend informal networking with developing personal and professional relationships. To take this further, not just encouraging collaboration but build a knowledge network across departments, we launched the Talent Trek Academy.  Every six weeks, our engineers spotlight a client’s case study, technology, or culture, supporting flexible work across multiple client projects while advancing service solutions.

Through regular networking events and peer learning sessions we cultivate both individual competencies, developed by applying knowledge in different scenarios, and strengthen a culture of elevating and being elevated by those around you.

At WorkNomads we are passionate about growth opportunities, and we’re committed to expanding our training and development programs in response to our team’s needs, both personally and collaboratively. By embracing these opportunities for learning, we ensure that every employee has the chance to develop new skills, take on exciting challenges, and contribute to our collective success.

Our mission: a transparent future

At WorkNomads, our mission to create a “Nation Without a Country” relies on building trust, flexibility, and community within our team. Our 2024 Staff Survey is just one of the ways we ensure that we’re staying aligned with our values and continuously evolving. Whether it’s enhancing communication, creating more engaging events, or offering growth opportunities, we’re committed to listening to our team and acting on their feedback.
